The Art Way was born from the passion and dedication of our founder, Alicia Lucio, who witnessed firsthand the transformative power of art through her daughter’s journey. In a fast moving world filled with challenges, Alicia sought to create a space where individuals facing mental health struggles, along with their loved ones, could find solace, expression, and healing through art. Rather than focusing on crisis, The Art Way centers on well-being, providing a supportive community where creativity becomes a bridge to serenity and hope. What started as small meetings with artists, therapists, and professionals at UTSA has now flourished into a meaningful program, offering freedom, exploration, and light to those navigating difficult moments.
The Art Way provides a safe, compassionate space for adults to explore creativity, self-expression, and community through guided artistic learning and the Open Studio Process. We believe in the power of art to foster personal growth, connection, and joy, regardless of experience or skill level.
We envision a world where everyone has the opportunity to unlock their artistic potential in a supportive community, using creativity as a tool for self-discovery, healing, and meaningful connections. Through The Art Way, we aim to cultivate a space where art is accessible, empowering, and transformative for all.
At The Art Way, we tackle
the challenges of isolation
and mental health struggles
by offering a safe,
compassionate space where
creativity is the cornerstone
of healing. Through guided
artistic learning and our
Open Studio Process, we
provide adults with an
opportunity to explore self-
expression, foster personal
growth, and build
meaningful connections.
Our program is designed to
be accessible to everyone—
no prior art experience is
necessary—empowering
individuals to rediscover
hope and joy through the
transformative power of art.
By uniting professional
guidance, community
support, and creative
exploration, The Art Way
serves as a catalyst for self-
discovery and long-term
well-being, turning artistic
expression into a journey of
healing and empowerment.
